I had two 55 degree curves in my upper spine and neck and a 14 degree curve in my lumbar. I had to have two rods and 22 screws placed in my spine to try and correct it and they managed to get the bigest curves down to 23 degrees. This stuff sucks, but it does get better. Keep strong and be proud of who you are!
You're not paying that chiropractor are you? Because 20% of 24 degrees is 5 degrees, which is the standard deviation in measurements. So basically he can give you expensive treatments with absolutely no result. There's no scientific evidence that a chiropractor can help scoliosis. (There's economic evidence that you can help the chiropractor however...) Hell, besides getting an operation there's no way to reduce a scoliosis. (And fortunately you're not even close to needing that.) Also, 24 degrees does not normally hurt, so you might want to check if you haven't got sheuermann as well, because that DOES hurt at small angles. (Or a lot of stress, that can get your back tensed up and then it will hurt.)
Before you say 'but you don't know what you're talking about', I do. I have both scoliosis (15 degrees) and sheuermann and so does the rest of my family. My mom had 73 degrees (had an operation) and my aunt had 103 degrees (had an operation as well.) Neither of them had breathing problems (unless my aunt got pregnant) so 24 degrees definitely doesn't give any. (Sounds more like a stamina problem to me XD; )
did you recently notice something about your back being messed up so you had it x-rayed? Or have you and your parents always known you had it since birth?
My aunt has it, she has like 4 mental bars inserted into her back or something like that. Maybe more?
I dont have it, but I have a straight spine. Which is sort of like it I guess? Just not curving or bending, the opposite, straightening. I use to go to the chiropractor, but it got too expensive ): My spine causes me to have neck problems, which then cause me to have "spinal headaches" which is migrans literally caused by my spine that causes my axial and forgot the other top vertibrae, to be out of place. It got so bad a few years back I'd be slamming my head into walls and the inside of cars. Oddly I dont get the headaches as often anymore, I use to get them everyday, but I tend to get them during the school year, probably due to craning my neck when writing and such. No clue why during the school year.
Well, My left ribs would rub the other side of my ribs. Like, the left would go over top of the other side when I laid on my right side. My lower back hurt and I'd always complain. My parents decided it was time for an Xray. So here I am, 3 times a week at the chiropractor doing physical therapy, Getting painful massages, and an Adjustment. It sucks. But i really have no problem with the pain, But apparently, My Chiropractor insists I do everything I can to straighten it. I need to get my curvature to at least 20% by....November? I dunno. He said in 3 months. It doesn't help that I have school August 25th. You're right, School is the worst time of the year for the back. It really is. It's because you're sitting 95% of the day. And looking down at your paper strains C1-C5. My back hurts. >_o Im not even supposed to sit for more than an hour a day... Including eating, watching TV, Sitting at the computer...ect.. Everything. But that's impossible now that school is starting. And I don't follow that order anyway. It's impossible for me to be on my feet more than I do now. It sucks...alot...
I have a friend who has scoliosis too. Will you have to get a brace for that?
How is it NOT?
[Though, matter of opinion of course
